FOREVER IN THE SETTING SUN
Garden Attire
Wear light, breathable fabrics in spring and sunset tones. Bring some soft layers like a shawl or light cardigan in case the temperature drops at sunset.
Shoes
Although it’s picnic style we will be on a farm. Make your best judgment and beware of the pokey things. Heels not recommended.
General Tips
A natural, bohemian-inspired look would align beautifully with the picnic setting and decor. Keep it casual.

The Farm Rules
Look where you are stepping
Especially look for ant mounds. Ants can dig a new colony overnight.
Stay away from fence lines
Stay out of tall grass
Do not touch trees
If you see something you are not familiar with, don’t touch it!
Finally, as we do live here, please:
Do not enter the house or buildings,
Do not enter the area bordered between the back of the house, the power poles, and the large black water tank,
Stay away from the septic system,
And do not enter the chicken pasture. Our huge rooster, “Tom Jones”, has been known to attack humans!
You might ask why we would have a ceremony on our property? Well, as long as visitors stay in the prepared areas then nature can be observed harmoniously while we all have fun!

About the Kirkpatrick Farm
What we affectionately call the “Kirkpatrick Farm” is about 3.5 acres of central Texas prairie. There is a lot of wildlife here. All of it beneficial to the environment in one way or another. We do not use harsh synthetic chemicals anywhere other than the septic system (chlorine) and the drive (for weed control). The only fertilizers we use are true organics and most of our pest control is natural and functions in a repellent nature, not a killer. The one exception is fire ants, where we do spot treatment of both natural and synthetic ant-icides routinely.
Texas flora and fauna is resilient and almost everything has an active defense mechanism. There are many insects, spiders, rodents, and reptiles on Texas prairies that can harm humans if we insist on touching them. We have observed deer, opossums, armadillos, raccoons, skunks, toads, several species of snakes, hawks, and turkey vultures, on our property. Everything we have come across has tried to get away from us as quickly as we observed it.
